Super Duplex Stainless Steels
Pacific Steel Mfg. manufactures components that are to be directly exposed to corrosive substances, such as chemical plant components and oil drilling rig components, using super stainless steel forgings. Our proprietary forging technology for the difficult-to-forge super duplex stainless steels is highly rated in a wide range of fields.
Duplex stainless steels combine the merits of austenitic stainless steels, which are ductile and have excellent corrosion resistance, and ferritic stainless steels, which are resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Among these, super duplex stainless steels refer to those which are particularly strong and corrosion resistant, and whose pitting resistance equivalent (PRE) values are more than 40. Due to their corrosion resistance and durability, they are used for parts that are to be directly exposed to corrosive substances such as chemical substances and seawater.
What are super duplex stainless steels?
Super duplex stainless steels have excellent durability and corrosion resistance, but are difficult to hot-work, therefore their application was mostly limited to castings. Utilizing the research findings accumulated over more than 75 years and the latest equipment and facilities, we at Pacific Steel Mfg. have achieved the production of super duplex stainless steel forgings that conform to ASTM standards.
